a branch on the pear tree in the yard taken 8/11/10
This week we have made great strides with painting. Everybody laughs, because really there aren't that many walls since it is a log cabin, but when two coats of primer then two coats of paint are needed, the drying time in between sure adds up! :) The main room is done (minus perhaps a few touch ups to the cabinets). My brilliant sister faux finished our tiny kitchen wall in between the cabinets and counters and improved it dramatically. It was an extremely bright red Tanager color, which W thought was "awesome!" but the faux finish with Fireweed tones it down while giving it some texture and depth which goes much better with the logs, imho.
The boys' room is a very bright blue, but W likes it (he picked out Flyway from Sherwin-Williams). The room is much smaller than the space they have now so it will be an interesting challenge trying to store their things. The closet is unfinished and open, so we may try to fit a piece of furniture or closet system eventually.
The plumber and electrician did their stuff yesterday, so we are ready for our new dishwasher and range whenever the flooring is done. The wood for the floors will be dropped off tomorrow and we will wrap up painting tomorrow and over the weekend. Next week the flooring will be installed.
We have "camped" up there a few nights, although C does not sleep well when we are there and has discovered how to climb out of the pack n' play, so we have been kept awake often. We have internet there but it is pretty slow for "high speed" since it is via a wireless device. Still waiting on our phones to be shipped but I hope they will somehow be a little faster for internet service. I am looking forward to settling in there once we can move the furniture.
