may lilacs

I am loving the lilacs and lily of the valley. Although maybe the saying should be changed to May showers bring more May flowers... it has been an incredibly rainy week here.

Crab apple tree

It's a rainy week here in New England, but I took this last Friday. Nice color from the crab apple blossoms! I was pleasantly surprised at how bright the flowers are. We will likely move this tree to a different place in the yard as it is too close to the house where it is now. This weekend we put down grass seed around where the swing set is, so at least the rainy/cloudy days should give it a chance to root if it doesn't all wash down the hill. Jacob did rake it in so hoping it works. At our condo we always had too much shade in that yard so our attempts to plant grass there failed miserably.

On Saturday we took a hike at the trails at the Andres Institute and did a loop around the quarries and enjoyed seeing many of the scuptures along the trail. It was our first visit there but I am sure we will go back, and next time remember to bring the camera. I quickly became aware of how out of shape I am while climbing up those hills! Today I did the Yoga kids dvd with W and C, but I will have to get back on the bandwagon with my Jillian Michaels Yoga meltdown dvd this week, and perhaps also get back in the habit of using our treadmill even if it means chilling in the basement.

I brought some lilacs inside to enjoy this week. I love the smell and will try to take some pics now that they are opening up. We also finally got the grill going last week, so I am on the lookout for grilling recipes like yummy kabobs and marinades.
